Islip Town Declares Winners in Journalism Contest

Islip, NY – Members of the Islip Town Board recently named the winners for the high school journalism contest, created as a follow-up to the recent high school press conference. Upon the completion of the press conference the participating students were tasked to write an article about the discussion, which centered on the Town’s recovery from Hurricane Sandy. A group comprised of Town officials and local journalists then read the submissions and determined the winners: Brittany Holloway, Margaret Liendo, and Mariam Naviwala of Brentwood High School.

“These girls should be proud of their work,” said Councilwoman Trish Bergin Weichbrodt. “They learned the amount of hard work and research that is necessary to succeed as a journalist.”
