Frontier Airlines Launches Five New Destinations From MacArthur Airport

Ronkonkoma, NY, October 5, 2017 – Today, Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) customers nearly double their choices from MacArthur Airport. That’s thanks to Frontier Airlines’ addition of flights to five destinations – Ft. Myers, Miami, New Orleans, Tampa, and West Palm Beach. Frontier is also adding a second nonstop to Orlando. The community will celebrate this launch of service for the first West Palm Beach departure at 12:05 pm. In advance of the departure, there will be a ribbon cutting and VIPS and special guests will provide details on the Frontier Airlines fares, routes and service.

“Long Island residents now have many more choices at ISP. We are delighted Frontier Airlines is recognizing the potential of our area with the continued investment of its aircraft,” explained Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken. “The airline business is very competitive, so we are delighted to see these flights and destinations at ISP. Long Island customers can now skip the traffic and hassles, and fly popular routes from their convenient home-town airport,” she added.

“Residents across Long Island have been asking for more service at MacArthur Airport. They want more destinations, more choices, and affordable fares. I am thrilled to see, that with the addition of these new destinations, Frontier Airlines recognizes that Islip is the preferred airline partner. These new flights are just what we were working towards, and all are on the airport’s list of Top 25 markets. An added bonus is Frontier flies some of the newest and quietest aircraft in the sky,” said Angie Carpenter, Town of Islip Supervisor.

“MacArthur Airport is an amazing asset for our region, and we are excited to see more airlines recognizing the important role that it can play in transforming how Long Islanders and visitors from all of over travel around the country,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. “I look forward to continuing our work with the Town of Islip to bring in even more airlines and travel destinations to MacArthur in the coming years to further unlock the immense potential of this growing transit hub.”

“The inaugural flight of Frontier Airlines from Islip to West Palm Beach, Florida is a significant step forward in realizing the full potential of Long Island MacArthur Airport, and thus I commend Supervisor Carpenter and the airline for a partnership that will be beneficial to the entire region,” said Kevin Law, CEO, Long Island Association.

Frontier Airlines is known as an ultra-low-fare carrier, entering these five new destinations with fares as low as $19 each way. “Today we introduce a new more affordable way to travel for the Long Island community,” said Daniel Shurz, Senior Vice President Commercial – Frontier Airlines. “We are offering not only amazing low fares, but a reliable and friendly service that allows customers to customize their travel experience to their needs and their budget. This empowers more people than ever before to fly. This is what our Low Fares Done Right philosophy is all about.”

Frontier will further grow at ISP this Spring, adding five additional nonstop destinations from ISP – Atlanta (ATL), Charlotte (CLT), Chicago (ORD), Detroit (DTW), and Minneapolis / St. Paul (MSP).

In addition to bringing new travel options to Long Island, the latest Frontier Airlines service provides a significant economic benefit to the area, and also to the regions hit hard by hurricanes.

“These flights will help ensure people in the hospitality and tourism industry get back to work,” said Shelley LaRose-Arken. “Visitors will help bring jobs and revenue to each of the destinations, and this economic recovery is important. We recognize all who are volunteering and all who are donating large and small to help people affected rebuild their lives,” she added.
