EMPLOYERS HIRING VETERANS

Walmart offers skills translators to assist Veterans in obtaining employment. The Walmart skills translator is available on Walmart’s “careers with a mission” website www.walmartcareerswithamission.com, which also includes openings at the company and advice for Veterans on how to land a job. The following, according to Walmart executives, is how military skills can translate into the retail industry:

VETERANS REAL PROPERTY EXEMPTION
For any Town of Islip homeowner that has not filed a Veteran’s Real Property Tax Exemption application, the deadline is March 1st. This applies to a Veteran or un-remarried spouse of a deceased Veteran. Please contact the Town of Islip Assessor’s Office at 631 224-5585 for additional information.

TOWN OF ISLIP PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

OFFERS TO TOWN OF ISLIP VETERANS ORGANIZATIONS REDUCED FEES FOR NEW BUILDING PERMITS, INCLUDING FILING FEES AND RENEWAL FEES AND LOWER FEES FOR ALL NEW CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE

REQUIREMENTS: The Town of Islip Veterans Organizations must legally own the building the organization is seeking to renovate or improve, must provide a completed permit fee reduction application and a list of all currently active organizations members 75% of whom must be Veterans currently residing in the Town of Islip.

REDUCTION- All new building permit fees, including filing fees and renewal fees, to be reduced by fifty(50%) percent and all new Certificate of Compliance fees reduced by fifty percent (50%) to a base fee of $375.00 plus $0.45 per square foot with a cap of $1,000.00 maximum.

TOWN OF ISLIP SENIOR CITIZENS DEPARTMENT:

VETERANS 60 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER
Town of Islip issues, free of charge, a Town of Islip Senior Citizen Card for Town of Islip residents 60 years of age and older- must apply at 401 Main Street, Islip, New York and avail yourself to all the Town of Islip Senior Citizen’s programs.
