Teen Parent Program
TEEN PARENT RESOURCE CENTER
The center is designed to reach out and provide a comprehensive network of supportive services and leisure activities for parents 12 to 21 years of age. Both teenage mothers and fathers as well as their families are encouraged to participate in the programs offered. One objective of the Teen Parent Resource Center is to ease the transition into responsible parenthood. Bilingual services are available.
The Resource Center Assists Teen Parents to:
- Achieve Educational Goals
- Develop career awareness
- Build self-esteem and establish healthy peer relationships
- Enhance daily living skills
- Improve parent-child relationships
- Network with each other at workshops.
The Teen Parent Resource Center Provides Workshops on:
- Infant and child development
- Life Skills
- Job preparation
- Family living
- Parenting skills
- Educational/Recreational trips.
Referral and Advocacy:
- Education
- Employment
- Day Care
- Health Services
- Social Services.
Case Management:
Teen Clients approved for Medicaid Services are eligible for case management services. A case manager will be assigned to establish needs, as well as long and short range goals. Goals will be monitored by the caseworker.
The Teen Parent Center also hosts holiday events and summer trips which enable family members to spend quality time with each other.
