Outreach
The Brentwood and Central Islip outreach offices offer advocacy and referral services to assist Town of Islip residents to negotiate the legal, health care and social service systems. Services may include:
- Interpretation of current welfare laws and how these laws apply to individual situations. Staff may accompany clients to fair hearings.
- Clarification of the changes in the health care system including Medicaid and Medicare Part D. Staff will refer clients to the appropriate resources that will enable clients to make the best choices for themselves.
- Staff can also assist in the preparation of Medicaid re-certifications and applications as well as applications for food stamps, public hearings and HEAP.(Home Energy Assistance Program)
