December 21st, 2018 – Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and the Islip Town Board welcomed students and members of the Islip High School Athletic Department at December’s Town Board meeting, in recognition of the school’s three varsity teams who won championship titles this fall. The three teams: Girls Soccer, Gymnastics and Tennis, each had outstanding seasons, culminating in a string of big wins for the school.

Michael LoGrande, Former Islip Supervisor, Visionary, Dies at 80

December 20th, 2018 – Michael LoGrande, former Islip Town Supervisor, Suffolk County Executive and Suffolk Water Authority Chairman died December 18. He was 80 years old. LoGrande died after an eight-month battle with cancer.

LoGrande served as the acting director of the Islip Town Planning Department from 1972-1974; as Commissioner of Planning from 1974-1979 and Town Supervisor from 1980-1986. “He loved the Town of Islip,” said his son, Michael F. LoGrande of Virginia. “He knew every street. I was baffled…you could say a street in the entire Town and he knew the people who lived on that street and he could tell you where it is,” said Michael, a retired Air Force colonel and now a United Airlines pilot. “He knew every nook and cranny in the Town.”

Hundreds of Toys Collected for Salvation Army Angels

December 12th, 2018 – An outpouring of generosity from Town of Islip employees was evident this week, when hundreds of toys purchased for the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program awaited pick-up in Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter's office.
